Flipped (Larry)

I would like to start by saying when I received my PM from Bryan, (B Dizzle Fizzle) the initial reaction was to wonder what I might have possibly done wrong to offend the site. But once I opened and read the contents, never would I have believed I was being asked to be OneB5 for the month of March. My first reaction was to become shocked being in my mind I feel my car isn't worthy yet, then the nervousness kicked in and I was thinking well my car isn't even close to being complete, I can't be nominated. But as I sat their starring at the PM I began to feel honored remembering all the things I have accomplished.

Still tentative, I noticed Anthony (A.K.A. Mr. EliteDubs) online so I started to chat with the fellow member who has become a cool friend (Even though we have never meet in person) about this and the way I felt. As we spoke all the fear began to change to excitement and here I am officially part of the OneB5 crew, who would have ever thought this cause I sure didn't.

My fascination for cars started way back when I was thirteen I just got a job working in a collision shop and really didn't know much but that quickly changed as the summer progressed. Back then everyone wanted Fleetwood's, Park Avenues, and Delta 88s. But times changed as did my age an so did the cars people drove. The time is 1989 and everyone wanted I-Roc Zs, Mustangs, Tran Am GTAs, or Vettes. Still working at the shop it was time to purchase my first car. So I went to a salvage auction and bought a 1986 I-Roc Z with a 5.0 TPI engine. This is where the mod bug officially bit me. I worked that car up with almost every penny I made until she was able to cook all that horse meat (Mustangs) out on the streets. But as I grew older and went through F body to F body I no longer felt the joy and wanted a change.

Lets fast forward to 1998, I needed a new ride and began the search for a new car. Problem was I had no clue on what I wanted. Looking back now and I am so happy I never did any of the cars I was seriously considering. (Choices were the Mitsubishi Diamante or Galant, Acura 3.2 TL, BMW 3 series with the Passat in the far distance) Back then I really had my eye on the Diamante (What was I thinking!) but with all the goodies I wanted, pushed the car out of my price range. The 3 series became the same problem as did the 3.2 TL, (I had to have the Navigation) Leaving me between the Galant or Passat. Lucky for me I never signed those papers for the Galant and went to look at the Passat one more time. Because this is when I saw my future ride sitting in the garage a 1999 Black Magic Passat GLS with a sunroof, and alloys. As I stood their admiring the car I knew I wanted it so I signed that very night.

As time went on I started to realize all the options and goodies that were available for the 1.8T and shortly after the bug had bitten again. My only problem was I really couldn't do to much being I leased the car. So when the time came to give the car back (2002) I began the search for a replacement this time it was a lot easier being I wanted to stay in the family and get either an Audi A6, S4 or another Passat which had to be a W8. So after going from dealership to dealership for Audis one night after work I decided to hit the local VW dealer 15 minutes before closing. All I have to say is 20 minutes later I signed the dotted line and have since then enjoyed my 8 Banger every minute.

As I mentioned at the beginning I am so far from completion and my list keeps growing and growing by the day. However, some of the things I have planned for the very near future are to get the badboy dropped with a set of coilovers, do the ECU and Tip chips, a Big brake kit for the entire car, on top of a new set of rims, and maybe even Votex kit. (still not decided if I like it)

Gotta take a minute to thank everyone here at B5one for allowing me to be a part of the family in addition to making me oneB5. Honestly, I am flattered and now have to start working on another nomination once the project is complete.

Too be continued...
