1.8Tttturbo (Dan)

First and foremost, I'd like to thank Bryan and the other moderators for choosing my car as this month's oneB5. Never would I have expected my car to be chosen for such an honor even years after additional modifications. I know my car will never be on the same level as those of previous oneB5 recipients such as D ZIGNER and B5Bel but I thank them for their originality in their mods which served as inspiration to members such as me.

Ever since high school, I always wanted a black Wolfsburg edition Jetta. While all my friends drove Maximas and Accords, I wanted to differentiate myself with a VW. Fast forward to May 2004. I just graduated from college, accepted a job offer and decided to purchase a new car. However, while VW was still in my heart, I felt the Jetta no longer fit my personality. I had become a bit older and wiser and determined a full sized sedan would be more suitable. I wanted to stay Euro and narrowed my choices down to the new Volvo S40, VW Passat, Audi A4, and BMW 325i. Ultimately I chose the Passat given its size, price, and mod potential.

My first mods included: Wett chip, Bailey dv, Sofsport springs and Bilstein shocks. I went to Bel for install based on the others' recommendations, and I'll never forget what he told me, "Once you mod, it never stops... this won't be the last time I'll be seeing you." Needless to say, over the course of the next few months, I made multiple visits to Bel...

I try to keep the mods very subtle so the car doesn't deviate much from its OEM appearance although it does get harder with each additional upgrade. I think I've improved the handling as best as I could give its FWD constraints. Power comes on much stronger and smoother compared to its original stock form. The difference with the e-spec HIDs is literally night and day. And the Avic-N1 coupled with the JL stealthbox dramatically increased sound quality.

I want to thank my girlfriend, Joanne, for her constant support and encouragement since day 1. In fact, loves the car almost as much as I do! I'd like to also thank Bel for performing all the major work as well as Ian for stirring my interest in the B5 and assisting with other mods. And lastly, I'd like to thank the friends I've made on the forums including, Bryan, Charlie, Gil, and especially Dave for his expert advice on all VW/Audi related questions.
