When I first bought this car I said it would stay stock. Yeaaaah right! Three days later it was chipped. A month later it had Bilsteins. A few weeks later a Shine Racing rear sway bar. And so on and so on. Until it morphed into the beast it is today. This is not my first VW, I should have known better.

I find it funny that my car was chosen for this, being all go and no show. I only wash it to keep it from rusting in the winter and to scrub off the cone marks between races. There are no painted calipers or tinted tail lights and I'm still rockin' the amber side markers. In fact I try to keep my car looking as stock as possible to avoid any unwanted attention. I did think about debadging it until an announcer at an auto-x called it Jetta! So it still wears the Passat badge just so that I can rub it in that a Passat IS a capable auto-x car.

The list of mods is kinda small with a focus handling and speed.

I've done a lot of research on each and every mod (I even had a hand in some designs) before dropping my hard earned cash. Everything does exactly what it's supposed to do, make me faster auto-xing while not sacrificing everyday drivability or stock looks. I think my favorite mod has to be the Shine Racing suspension. It's not "in da weeds" but boy does it stick! If it wasn't for this I wouldn't be as competitive as I am today. I ended up with a couple of second places at Waterfest this year and I'm really annoying the heck out of the all wheel drive cars at the local auto-x events. They don't like being beat by a FWD car, never mind a "grocery getter" like a Passat.
