PetrBrno (Petr)

I'm honored to be this month's OneB5. My name is Petr, I was born in the Czech Republic, and I drive a Dodge Stratus. j/k. Coming from a long line of car enthusiasts, my fascination with cars started at the age of 7 when my dad let me drive his 1959 Wartburg 311 around the yard (he worked the pedals). Later, my grandfather would often take us out in his 1954 Simca Aronde in full driving gear (yellow glasses and leather gloves). From then on I was always interested in all things automobile. Its only appropriate that my true introduction to the B5 Passat happenend during a trip back abroad. We took a cab in downtown Prague and I simply couldn't believe the amount of room in the back seat (I'm 6'5Ó). That alone impressed me enough to start considering a bigger newer VW as soon as we got back to the states.

My love of Volkswagens began with a 1986 Volkswagen Golf 8V. From there I've owned a 1991 GTI 16V, a 1992 GTI 16V, 2000 Cabrio GL, 2000 Cabrio GLS, and have done extensive work on my brother's 1990 Jetta Carat. My current two cars are a 337 GTI and this 2005 Passat Wagon 1.8T.

The Passat is our first new car. I have been blessed with a fiancee who loves to drive stick. As such, we bought the only 5 speed wagon on the lot and luckily it was Blue Graphite which is a very nice color in my opinion. As far as mods, I've always been of the OEM-plus frame of mind. I do things on my cars which are practical and affordable. The 91 16V Cost over 8,000 to restore and as a result, my modding bug is very much in hibernation mode.

So far, the car has received all regular service from the dealership (I'm lazy Ð see 16V above) and all modifications were done by me. The current modifications are:
